Automatic Transmissions
An automatic transmission is an incredibly complex work of engineering. Many so-called "remanufacturers" do nothing more than replace friction elements, gaskets, and seals. True remanufacturing as done by Subaru addresses each of the transmission complexities with precision gauging procedures, detailed failure analysis (to make sure old problems don't recur), and careful decisions regarding the replacement, refinishing, and/or remachining of each and every part/component. A Genuine Subaru remanufactured automatic transmission performs as new in each and every specification and operating characteristic ? at lower prices than "new-from-the-factory" automatic transmission assemblies.
More Replacement Parts
Replace the following parts when necessary:
- Casings
- Shafts
- Overrunning clutches
- Pumps
- Torque converters
- Valve body components
- Any other part/component that does not meet stringent, latest-model specifications set by Subaru.

Starters
To restore a starter to like-new, ready-to-start condition, we completely tear it down and thoroughly clean it. All moving components are inspected and replaced, as necessary, with new assemblies. Many components, including solenoid cover, nuts and bolts, are replated for corrosion resistance. After complete reassembly, the remanufactured starter is put through a battery of simulator tests and must pass all of the rigid original equipment specifications.
A. Field Coil
Inspected and replaced if necessary.
B. Front Housing
Cleaned, refinished, and machined if necessary ? to precisely return housing to OEM specifications. (Inferior housings can cause premature failure due to misalignment.)
C. Armature
Polished, gauged, and performance tested in the unit; commutator cleaned for longer brush life.
D. Pinion Gear/Snap Ring
Replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru components. (Normal, designed-to-wear item.)
E. Clutch Assembly
Cleaned to eliminate contaminants, torque-tested, and re-lubricated with OEM specified lubricants.
F. Solenoid Housing
Disassembled, inspected, cleaned, and refinished. (Use of OEM housing assures proper moisture drainage.)
G. Brush Holder
Cleaned, inspected, and replaced with new as needed.
H. Brushes
Cleaned, inspected, and replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru components as needed.
I. Rear Cover
Inspected and refinished to provide necessary corrosion protection and superior finish appearance.
J. Terminals
Replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru components to provide performance equivalent to new unit.

Alternators
Since alternators are typically subjected to severe temperature extremes, dust and stress, restoring
one to like-new condition requires total disassembly and complete cleaning. All major components are thoroughly tested for proper operation.
Any parts found to be out of OEM specification are replaced with new. Many external parts are replaced to provide maximum resistance to corrosion. After complete reassembly, the remanufactured alternator must pass thorough output power and "load" tests.
A. Front Housing
Cleaned, inspected and retapped to Subaru specifications; replaced with new Genuine Subaru
component as needed to return dimensional part to OEM specifications. (Properly installed housings
with the drain hole correctly located allow moisture drainage.)
B. Armature
Continuity performance tested; replaced with new Genuine Subaru component as needed to meet
OEM Subaru specifications.
C. Pulley
Checked for damage and refinished or replaced as required.
D. Bearings
Replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru front and rear bearings for long-life operation like a new unit.
E. Stator
600 volt performance tested; replaced with new Genuine Subaru component as needed to confirm
insulation integrity and help ensure that unit performs to Subaru specification.
F. Terminals and Insulators
Replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru components to provide proper conductivity and insulation where needed to help prevent unit failure.
G. Commutator
Remachined to average 8 micron runout?maximum 20 micron. Avoids brush bounce and helps to
provide consistent voltage output to ensure unit meets Subaru OEM specifications.
H. Voltage Regulator
Replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru component to provide long-life by meeting the latest OEM specifications.
I. Rectifier/Diodes
300 volt performance tested to Subaru specifications; replaced with new Genuine Subaru components to help ensure long-life by meeting the latest, most efficient OEM specifications.
J. Rear Housing
Refinished to Subaru specifications; replaced with new Genuine Subaru components as needed to provide necessary insulation and corrosion protection.
K. Brushes, Springs and Brush Holder
Replaced 100% with new Genuine Subaru components as brushes are a wear item and spring replacement helps prevent brush bounce which could lead to rapid wear.
Hardware
New or zinc/yellow chromate plated to provide necessary corrosion protection and superior finish appearance.

Axle Shafts
Unlike inferior aftermarket axles which may have damaged threads, collapsed clip rings or smashed ends, Genuine Subaru Axle Shafts have been completely remanufactured to original OEM specifications. Core components must meet high Subaru standards. You can install them with the
confidence that they will perform as well as those that originally came with the vehicle.
These Subaru axles are remanufactured using the industry's latest machine technologies, including sophisticated multi-head grinding machines that maintain the original OEM geometry. All housings, cages and races are remanufactured to original equipment standards. All ball bearings are replaced, and the joints are packed with a specially formulated, high-temperature, extreme pressure, Molybdenum and graphite lubricant that matches OEM performance.
Before assembly, all components undergo rigid testing to assure that OE standards are met or
exceeded. A final inspection of the integrated component is performed to assure quality of the finished product.
The result? The time-saving convenience of a one-piece component for you, and an assurance of genuine Subaru quality for your customers.

Short Blocks
All Genuine Subaru Remanufactured Short Blocks meet or exceed the original factory specifications. They always fit properly, for faster, trouble-free installation, and perform as well as a brand new engine. They also include the full range of Genuine Subaru components, from oil pans and pumps to thermostats, thermostat housings and water pumps. Best yet? Genuine Subaru Remanufactured
Short Blocks come with the Genuine Subaru Parts Limited Warranty ? at a competitive price.
Fully Cleaned and Machined
During disassembly, all components are meticulously cleaned and inspected. Crankcases, crankshafts and connecting rods are machined to match original factory tolerances. Then, to ensure that no debris can enter the final assembly, each component is thoroughly cleaned again.
Rigorously Reassembled
During reassembly, all remaining engine components are replaced with Genuine Subaru Parts, including the oil pan, water and oil pumps, bearings and seals, pistons, piston rings and piston pins.
Computer-Tested
Next, to assure outstanding performance and warranty-backed reliability, the engine is bench-tested. A computer-controlled testing process measures oil pressure and flow, as well as compression at full rpm, to simulate actual driving conditions.
