Buying a new vehicle is a big decision, and we want you to consider all your options before you decide on which vehicle is the best fit for you. That's why we're going to compare the new 2022 Subaru Ascent lineup to the new 2022 Ford Explorer lineup, giving you a side by side look at some of the many benefits that choosing a new Ascent model will offer you.

Performance

  • Whether you're traveling around Katy with your family or taking on off-road terrain on your next weekend camping or fishing trip, you can traverse any surface with the utmost traction, control, and confidence thanks to standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive in every new Subaru Ascent model. The new Ford Explorer comes equipped with standard rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive equipped models costing extra.
  • Fuel economy is similar on both the new Subaru Ascent and the Ford Explorer models. However, the Ascent lets you fill up 19.3 gallons of fuel capacity, while the Ford Explorer offers 17.9 gallons, allowing you to travel further on a full tank when you choose the Subaru Ascent.

  • While you're traveling off-road or through bad weather, you can traverse over the obstacles with 8.7-inches of ground clearance in every new Subaru Ascent model. The new Ford Explorer lineup offers 7.9-inches of ground clearance, which could be the difference between clearing an obstacle or damaging the underside of your vehicle.
  • All Subaru Ascent models come equipped with a continuously variable automatic transmission that doesn't need to shift as it uses pulleys instead of traditional fixed gears. The Explorer comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Interior

  • The new Subaru Ascent lineup offers two seating configurations. The first is standard seating for up to eight passengers with a second-row bench seat. Or you can opt for seating for seven with second row captain's seats. The Ford Explorer lineup also offers two seating configurations, but offers seating for up to seven passengers or available seating for six.
  • Both vehicles offer standard cloth upholstery with the option for leather upholstery on higher trim levels.

Exterior

  • Both vehicles offer sleek exterior styling and generally the same features offered throughout the lineup. However, every new Subaru Ascent model comes with steering responsive LED headlights that turn with the steering wheel to light up the road while you turn corners. The Ford Explorer offers standard LED headlights, but no comparable steering responsive option.
  • All Ascent models come with raised roof rails, making it easy to attach a roof rack and bring your favorite equipment on the go with you around Fulshear, TX. The Explorer also offers roof rails, but not standard.

Technology and Safety Features

  • Technology features are similar in both vehicles, with every model coming equipped with an infotainment system, touchscreen display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
  • Both vehicles also offer many similar driver assistance features in every model, including forward collision warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and more.
